Rohan Warriors

With the release of GW´s Battle of Pellonor fields the not so new game once again draw people in.
always loved the movies and with that the miniatures from the lotr range. Now new boxes have been made but also a few stunning figures and more to come. The old riders of Rohan is still good figures with their flaws like the horses sure to break their legs at some time as one. Compared to new figures from gripping beast and the perry brothers they are old, but once painted up and riding those orcs down I love them.

Lord of the rings "Theoden"

Théoden : ) What a marvellous miniature. It really show one what can be done with plastic kits. Best lotr miniature from gw imho. No terrible resin castings which really made me flee from that range. Well he might be a loner cause still really don't like their price policy : )

Onna Bugeisha

"Test of honour" range sold by warlord games and miniatures made by footsore models as I understand it. I got all their metal boxed sets, and just have to say they just get better and better....wow.

"The other seven"

 "The Other Seven" from great escape games.  They are a bunch of lovely figures one painted, but have to admit I struggled a little with the quality. From figures which are so new I have to admit I was disappointed with the casting. A fair amount of flash and had to make a small conversion to fix the broken gun on the Chris Prat character. He got a stick of dynamite which I think just make him better and true to the movie. Apart from that one painted and together I like the end result.

Spears finally arrived

Hyw Militia with city banner and pavisses from Dunkirk. Until now most of my HYW army has been painted fairly quickly, this time was different painting all the figures without much uniform, the pavisses where going to tie the unit together. All metal parts on these have been done just with washes and micro painting over the casing metal. The figures are all from claymore castings and just the best sculpts I have painted so far. Their range still not complete but just have a look at their new pavisse teams....mindblowing IMHO. Go to the HYW French page to see the rest of the unit

HYW City Militia banner bearers

1 plastic figure from the perry´s and one from Claymore casttings. The Perry´s nothing to say nice figures, very good rep. Claymore castings.....wow. their range is incomplete but work is progressing well I think. They are early hyw but should not be a problem for most of the figures and they are stunning. Different facial expressions on each miniature casting totally crisp and the detail even better than perry miniatures and so much ahead of front rank.

Well actually it was the 2 banners I wanted to show. Both made of lead French foil from a good bottle of French wine, not around Peronne I am afraid but never the less. I actually just attached the little men big Studio transfers used for the pavisses. and painted the rest of the  

flag. Hmmm that did not quite work since the edges clearly showed. Of to work again with paint in multible layers and last lots of streaks to camouflage the transfer edges. Think it turned out all right and one needs to get really close to spot them now. The Dunkirk militia coming next, just waiting for the spears to arrive. Happy new year to all of you,

Earl of Salisbury

The famous general Earl of Salisbury. The most distinguished English commander produced during the 100 years war, after Henry V. First commander after king Henry to be a gunnery expert. Liked and trusted by his men. Fought most of his life as an soldier in France under the Duke of Bedford the French regent from 1422-1428.

Edward Duke of York

Edward of Norwich or better known as Duke of York during the campaign in 1415 which eventually was to cost the duke his life. His head smashed in with ...maybe a French warhammer. The highest ranking Englishman to loose his life in that battle. The base is the standard(for my army) 60mmx40mm, which all my known knights are placed on. Repainted part of the banner, since it was the one bought for Henry v, and a small conversion to the squire holding the shield so it showed Edwards heraldry.

Sheriff John T. Chance

 Pretty sure "knuckleduster" miniatures found their inspiration for this sheriff in the movie Rio Bravo from 1959 starring John wayne as Sherif John T Chance.

Well even if not it was still were I found the inspiration for my

 colour palette.

 

Bandits and Brigands

The awesome set from warlord. Have to say I really enjoyed panting the boxed set. The figures were all crisp and very well sculpted. As said ealier some might find a couple of the models like the leader below a little to heroic but for "test of honour" games I find that he fit absolutely fine he might not be allowed to join my perry samurai army though. Henry V 1415

Mounted Henry V. Yes we all know he fought dismounted at Agincourt and this horse the Perry brothers chose to sculpt is probably not his warhorse but the one he rode when he addressed his men before the famous battle. Well anyway I choose to paint it the way I remembered it described in some sources...The knights all wear white armour without barding. Noticed right now the lances needed to straighten.I just when for an knight/man at arms for Henry´s banner allthought Sir John Codrington is depicted on the Osprey book cover......well many history sources say that that is quite uncertain. If anyone found other sources pls. tell me : )  

Depleted waffen ss squad.

Well actually just reinforcements for my Normandy german force. Also got the mg for the group but the team went awol for the photosession. As all my other figures for BA the are from warlords excellent range. Not much to say there. I loved the figure with the firing panzer faust(one in the middle), but it has a real weak spot, so it broke when I tried to straighten it out. well still a lovely figure...and had I had the time it could have been fixed.  

Samurai bandit

Bandit from Warlords "Bandits and Brigands". Must say that the quality of their test of honour  figures  suddenly became very promising. The figures are crisp and and well sculpted. Althought this is my first from that set I am eager to paint the last ones.
Also the small booklet I find very nice and usefull. The new scenarios adds new rules and I really like the storyline concept. Cant wait to their "Ninjas of Iga set to be released.

Just a couple of additions of knights to my French army. Count de Fauquembergues, bannerbearer and herald.

English archer unit HYW

100 years war....again. This is the third archer unit for my English army. 24 models as the 2 others but this time with 2 additional bases I can place in front at a unit which is still preparing their position. Bought the figures from the perry´s a long time ago but have been struggling to figure out how to use them. Added a few plastic a couple of archers standing guard and the rest helping to drive the stakes in. Ran out of static grass so only the bases in front got some. Again I used a palette of many different colours, but about 10 figures are in the kings livery blue and white so gives the unit a little more uniform look than the others.As always a joy to paint the figures from the perry brothers.
